Businessman Zaren Vassallo has denied ever meeting PN MP Jason Azzopardi, at the time Lands Minister, in connection with the purchase of the former Lowenbrau factory by the Vassallo Builders Group from Marsovin Limited and Agrico Limited.

In a statement, Mr Vassallo said he never reached any form of agreement with Dr Azzopardi on the said matter. “I never spoke to Dr Azzopardi on this, not when he was minister and neither later,” he said.

Dr Vassallo said he did not speak to any members of Dr Azzopardi’s secretariat on the matter.

Referring to an affidavit which Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said he had in his possession, which was signed by someone whose name was not disclosed, Mr Vassallo said that if his affidavit really existed, whoever signed it has sworn to something which did not happen.

Mr Vassallo said that other matters mentioned by Dr Bonnici in his press conference were not true. He did not elaborate further.

In a statement, the Labour Party said it stood by what it said and will be revealing more information in the future.
