A teenager is in hospital with serious injuries after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and crashed into an electricity pole yesterday evening, the police said.

The car, a Toyota Platz, overturned, leaving the 19-year-old driver from Birzebbuga trapped inside.

He was released by members of the Civil Protection Department and taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened in Mdina Road, Qormi, at 10.45pm.
