The Għarb local council has requested that all necessary legal measures are taken to protect the Wied il-Mielaħ arch from damage, given that the popularity of the area has grown exponentially since the collapse of the Dwejra window.

Wied il-Mielaħ, near Għarb, is one of the quietest places in Gozo is home to an arch that looks like the Azure Window.

The council said it should be consulted about any action that will be taken on the area in question.

The council believes that an extensive study should be carried out for information about the arch's condition and to see what measures should be taken to protect it.

It will also analyse traffic and access, calls for action to be taken by the police and the authorities to prevent abuse and to take measures for no activities to be held.

It said visitors to the area should understand its significant ecological, geological and historical importance.
