Updated (2): Car plunges two storeys in Floriana car park, driver in hospital

A Belgian national was taken to hospital for treatment when the car he was driving plunged two storeys at the Floriana MCP car park this morning, the police said.

Seconds before the accident,which happened at 11.20am, a woman and a baby had gone out of the rental car, a Peugeot, sources said.

The car fell from the minus four level to the minus six level of the car park, and was extensively damaged.

The police said that the 28-year-old driver of the Peugeot was reversing the car when it plunged two storeys.

The man was assisted by members of the Civil Protection Department before being taken to hospital for treatment. The police later said that he was found to be suffering slught injuries.
