PM receives 'final' report on Gozo drugs inquiry after requesting clarifications

Wednesday, 5 April 2017, 19:50 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Prime Minister this evening received the “final” report on the inquiry into the Gozo drugs case, his office said. The report will be published as soon as possible after it is duly analysed.

The case revolves around a statement given to the police during a drug investigation in 2013, which was changed following a meeting involving “two senior politicians” and family members of the suspects. The claims were made by MaltaToday.

The OPM said the Prime Minister had received the final report after he had requested some clarifications on the original report he received yesterday. The inquiry was led by lawyer John Vassallo, who had requested an extension that expired today. Dr Vassallo had stood as a PL candidate. The PN says it does not have faith in him or the inquiry.

Yesterday, PN Leader Simon Busuttil said he believed that the ministers involved were the Gozo Minister and either the PM or the Police Minister.
