Prime Minister Joseph Muscat received a total of 27,560 first count votes across two electoral districts, while PN Leader Simon Busuttil received 20,655 first count votes
Dr Muscat received 14,674 first count votes on the 2nd district, higher than what he received in 2013 (13,968)
One has to keep in mind that there have been changes to the electoral districts. The 2nd district, comprising Vittoriosa, Senglea, Cospicua, Zabbar (including St Peter's), Kalkara and Xghajra, now also includes part of Fgura, thus meaning that the population in this district has risen.
On the 5th District, Dr Muscat received 12,886 first count votes
