Education system should open up children’s minds, and not add on stress - Delia

Malta needs a long-term plan for the education system to open up children’s minds and not add extra stress, PN Leadership candidate Adrian Delia said.

Delia has dedicated this week of the campaign to the education sector.

Delia said that there are people who are using personal attacks to try and gain an advantage for one candidate or another, “but I prefer to talk about topics which have an effect on people’s lives, as if we do not make a difference for the people then they would have no reason to choose us over the Labour Party.”

He said that while the educational system has produced graduates, professionals and workers in different sectors, the same system created stress on children and has repercussions on society.

“We need a strategic plan to assure that what is being taught to our children truly serves them in their professional lives. I believe the educational system needs to be revised in this way.”

He said that the teachers themselves are best suited to advise the PN on the education system. .

He said that the system should not result in the creation of more unnecessary problems for children. “The way forward I imagine is one where the system serves children, and not one where we use children to serve the system.”
