Paul Chimezie scored a brace in the first half to bring his tally to 24 this season and finish as top scorer of the First Division League. For Mqabba it was an easy match against bottom of the table side Rabat, who played for an hour with ten men.

Mqabba took the lead after only five minutes play when Paul Chimezie scored with a low drive from the edge of the area. Mqabba were constantly on the attack even though they failed to create glaring scoring opportunities.

On 27 minutes Rabat were reduced to ten men when Zachary Tanti was sent off for dissent. Mqabba increased the pressure and a Michael Borg freekick was well saved by Zammit, and on 44 minutes the same Micahel Borg had a good attempt just sailing over the bar.

Just before the break Mqabba doubled the score when Paul Chimezie made his way inside the area before beating Zammit for the second time with a low drive.

On the resumption a Gianfranco Micallef shot sailed over the bar and Rabat had a golden opportunity on 68 minutes when a Brandon Micallef went over the bar, with the Mqabba custodian out of position.

Near the end of the match Mqabba missed many scoring opportunities, mainly through Gianfranco Micallef.
