New champions Qormi were made to fight by a gallant San Gwann side on their celebration afternoon. However Qormi deserved their victory yesterday to start their celebrations in the best way possible.

At the end of the match MFA' sLudovico Micallef presneted captain Alessio Cassar with the champions trophy as the numerous and loyal Qormi supporters continued with their celebrations for a more than deserved title win.

Qormi's first attempt came on seven minutes when Saliorli's shot was partially saved by Andrea Camilleri and from the rebound Michael Camilleri shot incredibly over the bar. Qormi were constantly on the attack but Godwin henshaw at the other end alomost deceieved the Qormi rearguard but his shot went just wide.

On 15 minutes Qormi were rather unlucky when a Luke Busuttil shot slammed against the crossbar and from the rebound Dejan Vukovic's shot was blocked by Camilleri. Three minutes later Qormi  were in front when Tensior Gusman scored a beauty from an acute angle.

But two minutes later San Gwann drew level when Adamec's header for goalkeeper Azzopardi proved to be an assist for Henshaw who rounded off the goalkeeper before putting at the back of the net.

Qormi again hit the crossbar on 34 minutes when an overhead kick by Gusman was deflected by Gauci with the ball finishing against the woodwork. San Gwann dominated the remaining minutes with their striker Godwin Henshaw twice denied by the Qormi custodian.

The second was less intense even though Qormi still held the upper hand. On 71 minutes Qormi regained the lead when San gwann goalkeeper Camilleri fumbled an Adamec freekick and from the rebound substitute Iven Zammit slotted home.

Pieta win entertaining final match

Second placed Pieta defeated third placed Zejtun in an entertaining encounter that produced six goals.

Pieta had the first attempt on seven minutes with a Lawrence Chiedozie low drive missing the target. The match was rather slow with very few scoring chances till the 36 th minute when Pieta took the lead when Juan Manuel Artiaga lobbed the ball home over the onrushing goalkeeper.

On 64 minutes Clive Gauci crossed towards Nicholas Pisani who shot home from an ideal position. Five minutes later Pieta scored a third when substitute Jan Busuttil scored with a beautiful lob.

However Zejtun did not throw in the towel with Clayton Giordemaina missing a good opportunity on 73 minutes. But sixty seconds later Zejtun pulled one back when Adrian Carabott headed home a Sato cross.

Two minutes later Zejtun were back in the game when Neil Tabone crossed towards Omar Elhussieny who scored from close range. Zejtun threw everything forward in search of a dramatic equaliser but in stoppage time Pieta sealed the issue with a fourth goal when Laurence Chiedozie scored from close range after a fast counter break.

Qrendi put their minds at rest

Qrendi needed a point from their final encounter against Vittorisa to avoid a play-off against Swieqi, and they obtained the three at stake thanks to an impressive victory with Aaron Agius scoring a hat trick.

It was evident from the starta that against a demotivated Vittoriosa side, Qrendi are going to make it, ending their historic first experience in this category with a bang.

After hitting the crossbar through Santo Da Hora, Qrendi took the lead on 15 minutes when Aaron Agius headed home with a free header from close range.

On 28 minutes Shunsuke Nakamura doubled the score following a good on the right by Da Hora. Unfortunately Nakamura had to be substituted in the interval.

Qrendi put away any residual doubts with a two-goal burst in two minutes.On 57 minutes Aaron Agius was on hand to finish off a Da Silva Martins run on the left, and sixty seconds later the same Agius scored the best goal with a shot from just inside the area.

Five minutes from time Qrendi scored the fifth and final goal after another good run by Julio Cesar Sousa Da Martins Silva

Zabbar head for the play-off

Zebbug Rangers defeated Zabbar St Patrick 3-1 to finish fourth, just one point away from the promotion play-off spot.

On the other hand the defeat with this defeat Alfred Attard's side will have to face Swieqi in a relegation play-off.

Aud-Gustine Obaje put Zebbug ahead on 24 minutes, and Larson Mallia doubled the score eleven minutes into the second half.

Aidan Agius pulled one back for Zabbar on the hour but Larson Mallia sealed the issue with a third goal ten minutes from time.
