Pink October campaign’s goal to create ‘one holistic voice, a united voice’ – Michelle Muscat

Thursday, 13 September 2018, 14:20 Last update: about 8 years ago

Pink October was launched today by the wife of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Michelle, and The Marigold Foundation to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The goal of the campaign is to unify all the concerned entities to ultimately create "one holistic voice, a united voice - where we try to remove the fear people have when facing this illness" Muscat explained.

"Breast cancer can be cured if caught in time, and one can then also live a normal life."

The Chairperson for The Marigold Foundation continued on last year's message where the public was encouraged to 'Face Your Fear'. The tagline came from speaking with individuals who explained that they would rather stay in the dark, than face a potentially life-wrecking medical issue.

The new holistic program will not only be composed of medicine-oriented support, but also, for example, smoking cessation programs and weight reduction programs.

Various events will take place across Malta and Gozo, particularly a Bike Ride on the 7th of October, Doctors in the City on the 13th in Valletta, the Pink Night Walk, and the Pink Ball. Talks to raise awareness will also be conducted in various schools on the island.

The money donated to The Marigold Foundation through these events will then move on to be split up between various cancer-related entities.
