There is no doubt that J. SAMMUT PRE SEASON T'MENT, was a success. The competition went well and great sportsmanshp prevailed. Although games were well contested no incidents or rough play took place. In fact in twelve games only three yellow cards were shown.

As for the competition itself, ZURRIEQ WOLVES continue their impressive start this season and for the first time ever they reached the final. On their way they showed excellent play and managed to beat two Premier teams Valletta and Melita. Zurrieq is a founder member of the association and reaching a final, is a big achievement and they will for sure fight it off in the final when they meet champions MARSA WHITE STARS. Against Melita in semi final, they had an excellent start when after only three minutes they opened the score by Alistair Camilleri one of their best players. Melita soon got the equiliser. However, after that, Zurrieq Wolves were in control and with their opponents surprised, they scored three consecutive goals to make sure to be in the final wth a score of 6-2.

In the other semifinal, we had a classic game between champions MARSA WHITE STARS and DINGLI DESANA, two of the best teams we had seen so far. It was a pity that someone had to lose. Dingli were better in the first half showing some impressive football and took a lead of 8-4 with SIMON SHEAD scoring three. Marsa failed to show their usual rhythm of play and forced by their opponents they had to defend with goalkeeper George Edwards being kept busy.

However, after the break Marsa were a different team. Coordination returned and players like Ricardo Severino and Gilbert Scerri with four and three goals each were creating great trouble. They came close 7-8 and later on they took the lead for the first time 10-9. Up to a few minutes before the end they were level and penalties were to decide. But two goals in the last three minutes by Severino and Scerri gave Marsa a place in the final.
