Azerbaijan coach Gurban Gurbanov had words of praise for Malta striker Michael Mifsud, who unfortunately will be missing Sunday’s match in Baku.

Gurbanov was speaking at the press conference at the eve of the match against Malta. He said that Malta are tactically well organised and will be very difficult to beat them. He said that the Maltese are very fast in their breaks and have to be extra cautious to keep the Maltese at bay.

He said that it is a pity that Michael Mifsud is missing as although now already counting 37 years, he is still a very dangerous player. Gurbanov said that he wished that he faced Malta in their full potential.

He said that it is vital for Azerbaijan to get the victory on Sunday, but insisted that the most important thing is to play good football, as this will automatically bring success. Coach Gurbanov said that his final squad for the match is not defined and will only decide on the first eleven to face Malta after Sunday morning’s last training spin.
