Although for a whole hour with ten men, Gudja were still godd enough to beat Qrendi 3-2 in a highly entertaining match.Gudja were in front after only eight minutes play when Sergio Hili scored from close range.Qrendi were however back in business twelve minutes later with a Jonathan Silveira Da Silva beauty from outside the area.Gudja's chances looked bleak on 32 minutes when Miguel Attard received a straight red.However Gudja kept the pace with their opponents and just before the break took the lead when Kooh Sohna was tripped by goalkeeper Pace and from the penalty spot Jackson Lima made no mistake.Two minutes past the hour Gudja increased their lead when in a fast break Raphael Kooh Sohna headed past the onrushinh goalkeeper.Late in the game Qrendi pulled one back through Kenneth Abela.

Santa Lucija are not the surprise team of the tournament any more, as yesterday they changed their status to firm favourites for a promotion berth to the top flight.

Yesterday they demolished Mqabba after another fine display of attacking football. For Mqabba this was the first defeat of the season, with this heavy defeat coming just seven days after another six-goal humiliation in the FA trophy on Gozitan soil.

The match was a balanced affair in the first thirty minutes, but Santa Lucija were in a class of their own after forging ahead and never looked back piling misery on the Mqabba defence, as the leaders' speed and flair in attack was too much for Clive Mizzi's outfit to cope with.

Swieqi ended their four-match winless streak with an important victory against Marsa, in a direct clash between two sides in the relagation zone.

Swieqi were coming from four consecutive defeats and this victory apart from lifting Swieqi to a healthier position, can give them a fresh start to the rest of the season.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Marsa who cannot falter in these direct clashes if they wish to avoid further trouble in the future.

Gianluca Calabretta playing his first match this season for Swieqi was the player of the match scoring both goals with the second one from the penalty spot. In between Marsa obtained the equaliser with a great freekick by Aaron Agius.
