Balluta Bay once again open to the public after sand re-nourishment project

Balluta bay has been re-opened to the public after the completion of a sand re-nourishment programme. Speaking at a press conference, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said that through the Malta Tourism Authority’s work, the country now has an additional four beaches to enjoy, these being St George’s Bay in Birzebbuga, Fajtata Bay in Marsaskala and Ghar L-Ahmar in Marsaxlokk, apart from Balluta.

Mizzi added that the government is committed to making more beaches accessible throughout the summer, as they play an important part as a tourist attraction. He said that the MTA will continue to work on the replenishing of the bays every year. Alongside MTA, the Foundation for Tourism Zones will manage the bays and all bays will have a lifeguard stations, as well as changing rooms and showering facilities.
