Prime Minister says Matthew Pace should resign from PA Board

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has said that PA Board Member Matthew Pace should resign from his post.

Last week the court had declared the decision of the Environment and Planning Review Tribunal, as well as that of the Planning Authority Board, on the db Group project at the ITS site null and void. The case mainly revolved around board member Matthew Pace, and the court presided over by Judge Mark Chetcuti ruled that planning board member Matthew Pace had a conflict of interest because of his involvement in real estate when he voted on the project

"We have rule of law here and the Prime Minister cannot just snap his fingers and impose upon an independent authority," Muscat said when asked what he will do if Pace doesn't resign.

Recently, Matthew Pace indicated that he will not be resigning from the PA Board. The Judge however did nor preclude him from serving as a board member due to his involvement in real estate, but that he should recuse himself on cases where he stood to gain financially.
