Santa Lucija residents have every right to know why trees removed a few days ago from the locality by Infrastructure Malta were taken to Dingli temporarily and placed in a private field, the Nationalist Party said.
The Sunday Times of Malta reported, yesterday, that several olive trees that were uprooted for the Santa Lucija project were moved to a remote field in Dingli and replanted.
A government spokesman said it was only a temporary home, whilst it was also reported that the field was identified as private property.
In a press statement, PN environment spokesman Jason Azzopardi said that the residents should also know why the particular field in Dingli was chosen. They should also know if other places were identified for the trees to be planted, as well as how and how many places were identified by Infrastructure Malta.
