The Armed Forces of Malta said that two migrants were found on a dinghy on Monday. One of them was dead, the other was in critical condition.

A first statement by the AFM said it coordinated a rescue operation of two persons who were reported to be on board a rubber boat and in critical condition. 

The first casualty was brought to Air Wing Base, Malta, by the AFM’s AW139 helicopter. The second person will be transferred by the AFM’s P52, the statement said.

A second statement later said that one of the migrants had died.

The AFM did not give the gender of the two persons, neither their nationality. It did not say where the rescue operation took place.
