An elderly couple, originally from Mosta but that live in Sydney, Australia lost their lives in a car accident in Doonside, on Saturday evening.

Carmen Sant, 81, was certified dead at the scene whil3 her husband Frank Sant, 83, died on Sunday morning, in a hospital in Westmead, according to the Australian police.

The collision involved a Nissan Pulsar and a Toyota Hilux. Carmen Sant, a passenger in the Hilux, was found trapped in the car.

The 22-year-old man driving the Pulsar, Harjinder Singh was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, involuntary homicide and other driving charges. He was refused bail and will face Court on Monday.

According to one.com.mt, the couple were on their way home after having met their friends in a Maltese club, La Valette.
