Bank of Valletta is replacing the secure key currently in use, with all keys to be deactivated by 14th September.
Customers will have the option to either download the new BOV Mobile App or they may pick up a new physical secure key against an annual payment of €10.
According to the bank's website, the new release of the BOV Mobile app sees the introduction of BOV signatures.
"You can access Internet Banking on the go even if you do not have your BOV Securekey," reads information on the website.
It is imperative for customers who wish to continue using the service uninterrupted to download the new mobile app and activate it before the 14th September as a secure key is required to activate the new and updated BOV Mobile application.
The secure key, introduced in 2003, provided customers with the option to view their accounts, make payments, transfer between accounts or to third parties and top up their mobile phone. BOV was the first bank in Malta to introduce such a service.
