A 43-year-old Hungarian motorcycle rider was taken to hospital after losing control of his bike and skidding on the coast road, the police said on Sunday.
The accident took place at 11.15am.
An ambulance went on site and took the rider to Mater Dei Hospital for care. The man suffered serious injuries.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli was appointed to head an inquiry into the matter, and investigations are ongoing.
