There are currently 120 people using the services of the Gender Wellbeing Clinic in Mtarfa, Health Minister Chris Fearne said.

Fearne was answering a parliamentary question asked by PL MP Rosianne Cutajar, about the number of people who are registered for the services of the Gender Wellbeing Clinic and whether there are plans for another clinic, if the numbers of individuals continue to increase.

Fearne explained that currently there are no plans to open another clinic which offers the same services. The Gender Wellbeing clinic opened in November 2018, specifically offering multi-disciplinary services to transgender individuals, inter-sex and queer people. The clinic also offers specific needs such as hormone therapy and gender affirmation care. Clients need to be referred to the clinic by their family doctor, hospital specialist, social worker or psychiatrist.
