A journalist has received a threatening letter at her private residence and a report has been filed with the police, the Maltese Institute of Journalists aid.
In a statement, the IGM condemned the threats, saying that no form of intimidation should be accepted.
The name of the journalist was not disclosed by the IGM, but was named by One News as being Nicole Buttigieg.
The IGM said that the work of a journalist is fundamental in a democracy. This latest incident follows a series of others during the past days when journalists were intimidated, pushed and had objects thrown at them while doing their duty.
The IGM called for better protection from the police for journalists, and demanded that all cases are investigated thoroughly.
