Updated: 7-year-old-boy crushed to death by bulldozer at Ta' Kandja quarry

A 7-year-old boy died on Thursday morning after he was crushed by a bulldozer inside a quarry in Ta’ Kandja, limits of Siggiewi.

According to reports, the unmanned vehicle, which was parked on a ramp, started moving downwards, crushing the boy.

The accident happened at around 7am.

A medical team from Mater Dei Hospital went on site but the boy was certified dead at the scene.

In an official statement, the police said that Rapid Intervention Unit officers had gone on site and from the preliminary investigations it results that a bulldozer moved backwards and hit the child. During the incident, the police said, a relative of the child was on site conducting his work in the quarry.

Magistrate Josette Demicoli is conducting a magisterial inquiry and police investigations are ongoing. Health and Safety Authority Officials also went on site.
