A 50-year-old Hungarian man from St. Paul’s Bay has died after a motorcycle crash on the Coast Road in Naxxar on Sunday.

Police were informed of the incident at 9:55am on Sunday, and preliminary investigations showed that the man was riding a Honda motorcycle when he lost of the motorbike, crashed into the barricades which divides the road and was dragged several metres.

The incident happened in the line going towards St. Julians’.

An ambulance was called and the rider was taken to Mater Dei for treatment, where he was certified as suffering from serious injuries. In a statement on Monday morning however, the police announced that the man had succumbed to his injuries and passed away. 

Duty Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo has opened an inquiry, while police investigations are also ongoing.
