A woman was seriously injured on Saturday when she was hit by a car, the police said.

The accident took place at noon in Mgarr Road, Xewkija, Gozo.

The woman, a Polish 47-year-old, was hit by an Opel Astra driven by a 77-year-old man from Britain who resides in Ghasri.

She was taken to Gozo Hospital with serious injuries.
