Throughout August, the Major Crimes Unit solved a number of investigations that began in the same month, as well as ones that began months prior, the Police Force said in a statement.
"People tied to two homicides were charged in court - one homicide on 7 August in Ghaxaq and another homicide on 18 August in Sliema. A person tied to the Sliema homicide is currently detained by the Spanish authorities after escaping the country."
"A person is also undergoing court proceedings over a Ta' Qali attempted homicide on 13 August."
Thefts
Throughout August, the squad also solved a number of thefts from shops and residences, including ones related to theft of mobile phones from a St Julian's shop, a Zejtun hold-up, the theft of a motorbike in Gozo, the theft of thousands of euros from a St Paul's Bay residence and others the police said, adding that people have been charged in all cases.
Assistant Commissioner Sandro Gatt, who leads the Unit, said that the success of these investigations are the fruit of long hours of work, highlighting that many crimes were solved in August.
