A 94-year-old woman died after being attacked by two dogs inside her Msida home on Antonio Sciortino Street, the police said.

The incident occurred at around 4pm. News reports read that the two aggressive dogs were pit bulls that belonged to the woman's nephew, and somehow made their way into her home from the yard.

The police said that members of the Civil Protection Department went on site to assist, as did a medical team, however the woman was pronounced dead on site.

The woman's dog, which news reports say was a Chihuahua, was also killed.

Investigations are ongoing and a magisterial inquiry was called.
