Two brands of medical cannabis are back in stock in pharmacies across Malta and Gozo, Pharma.MT announced in a short statement on Wednesday.

After a short period where medical cannabis was not available throughout Malta and Gozo, Pharma.MT Ltd is pleased to announce that Bedrocan (22% THC) and Bediol (6.3% THC, 8% CBD) are now back in stock and available in pharmacies”, the statement read.

It was reported last week that pharmacies across the country did not have any stocks of medical cannabis left, with ReLeaf’s Andrew Bonello saying that patients had initially been forced to switch from Bedrocan to the less potent Bediol before that went out of stock as well.

The government has long been trying to make Malta a centre for medical cannabis, which was regularised in 2015.

In November, then Economy Minister Chris Cardona had said that Malta will be one of the first countries to offer high grade genuine medical cannabis for the rest of Europe.

Last June, it was revealed in Parliament that five companies have applied with the Medicines Authority to cultivate and grow cannabis for medical and research purposes.
