As part of a series of visits to places of work that have played an important role in mitigating the impact of COVID-19, President of Malta George Vella visited the head office of Malta's leading postal services company, MaltaPost, in Marsa.

Addressing employees and management, President Vella explained how the sense of responsibility shown by MaltaPost and its staff has been evident since the outset of the pandemic as they continued to collect, distribute, and process mail.

He pointed out that the continuation of service alleviated the feeling of isolation and detachment among people.

As MaltaPost quietly persevered in its mission, it won the trust, respect, and cooperation of the public because it provided a taste of normality to the people of Malta and Gozo, he said.

The President also praised the green measures recently introduced by the company, including the introduction of electric vehicles.

The President appealed to MaltaPost employees to participate in the ‘Help Us Help Others’ scheme by making a small monthly donation from their salary, depending on how much they wish to give and can afford, to The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
