Female passenger coming from Madrid caught with 9.85kg of cocaine

Around 9.85kg of cocaine hidden in a carry-on bag was discovered by Customs officials on Monday. 

The discovery was made during the screening of passengers arriving from Madrid, Spain. 

Apart from the cocaine, other passengers were found in possession of cannabis and ecstasy. 

In a post on Facebook, Customs Malta said that during a routine operation at the Malta International Airport, Customs officials, flagged suspicious content in a carry-on bag of one of the passengers on the Xray machine.  

The drug was found in the false bottom of a bag being carried by a Spanish woman. She was arrested and the drugs were handed over to the Police Drug Squad.

Her friend was found with a small amount of cannabis and ecstasy. 

Both passengers will be arraigned in Court in the coming hours.
