An 83-year-old man has become the second Covid-19 related death of the day and Malta’s 23rd victim of the virus.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said that the man tested positive for Covid-19 on 16 September when he was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital.
The man continued to receive treatment at Mater Dei, where he passed away earlier today.
The Ministry said that he had other medical conditions.
The man is the second person to die with Covid-19 in a day, after a 98-year-old man also died with the virus earlier on Monday. It means that eight people have now died with the virus in seven days.
The Ministry sent its condolences to the family of the victims, and appealed to the public to continue to follow the Health Department’s appeals, especially on hand hygiene, social distancing, and the usage of face-masks.
