23 new Covid-19 cases were found by health authorities over the past 24 hours, according to their daily update on Wednesday.
78 more people meanwhile have recovered from the virus. This means that the number of active cases has dropped to 462.
2,211 swab tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of swab tests up to 253,983.
Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated, but gave details about the cases reported on Tuesday.
Out of the 29 reported on Tuesday; 7 were family members of previously known contacts, 3 were related to social gatherings with positive cases, 2 were imported cases, 2 were direct contacts of other positive cases, 1 was from the St. Joseph Home cluster, 1 was a work colleague of a positive case, and another was from the Paceville cluster.
Malta has now had a total of 3,058 cases of Covid-19 since March. 2,562 of those have recovered, while 34 have died.
