Covid-19: 47 new cases take total to more than 300 in last week, 42 patients recover

Forty-seven new Coronavirus cases were registered on Tuesday, taking the total to more than 300 in the last seven days.

It is the fourth day in a row that the number of new cases exceeds the number of patients who recovered. The health authorities said that 42 people recovered today.

The number of swab tests carried out was 1,961, for a total of 267,591.

Nearly seven months after the first case, Malta has now registered 3,374 cases (339 of which in the last seven days), with 40 deaths, the latest of them an elderly woman.

The number of patients who recovered is now 2,812, which leaves 522 active cases.

The health authorities gave no details on today's cases.

From yesterday's cases, which totalled 57, 28 were family members of previously known cases, one case was a direct contact of another positivge case, three were work colleagues of people who had the virus, two cases from a Paceville cluster and one case was from a social gathering in which another person had tested positive.
