Ask Miriam Dalli, PM says, when asked if MEP has accepted to take Muscat’s seat

Prime Minister Robert Abela today would not say whether MEP Miriam Dalli has accepted to be co-opted in Parliament, replacing former PM Joseph Muscat. Nor would he say whether she will be given a ministerial portfolio.

Speaking to The Malta Independent, Abela said such questions should be put to the MEP.

The Prime Minister was also asked about rumours that former Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana is set to resign, as claimed by Times of Malta. Sources have said that Caruana was taken by completely by surprise by the report.

“Justyne Caruana has not resigned. There was a report about her resignation and it took me by surprise.”

Pressed to say whether she will be resigning, the PM said: “I am in no position to say what can happen tomorrow, next week or next year. I cannot predict the future.”

Asked whether Etienne Grech had been requested to resign, the PM simply said that Grech announced his resignation today and a process ro replace him in the House will start.
