Three teenagers were arrested by the police as part of their investigations into the decapitation of a statue in Marsascala.

The statue, a representation of St Anthony of Padua holding Baby Jesus, is situated on the parvis of a chapel in the Family Park.

It was vandalised on 6 October at around 9.30pm.

The police said they arrested a 19-year-old Frenchman, an 18-year-old Englishman and a 17-year-old Maltese woman.

Both St Anthony and Baby Jesus had their heads removed, as were the fingers of Baby Jesus.

The statue is part of the cultural patrimony, the police said.
