Renowned memory trainer and bestselling Israeli author Eran Katz at the 2020 Malta Book Festival

Among the international guests at the 2020 virtual edition of the Malta Book Festival, the National Book Council has invited Eran Katz, professional speaker, bestselling author and brain enthusiast. During the festival he will be participating in events and activities aimed at both young and older audiences, providing the public with an opportunity to meet the author and discover his work.

Katz is the author of seven books on the power of memory and intelligence, including Five gifts for the mind (2016) and Jerome becomes a genius (2009), both international bestsellers in more than 10 countries. His unique books, combining suspense and self help skills, have been translated into 17 languages and won numerous literary prizes. He is also the founder of Smart Memory LTD, a company that develops memory improvement online courses for students and adults. Katz has delivered more than 2,000 lectures and seminars on memory and brain power to educational institutions, companies and conventions worldwide.

In children's books like The bamboo ice cream mystery (2019) Katz employs a combination of imaginative stories, fun anecdotes and a guide to boosting your learning skills, improving your memory and bettering yourself and your quality of life. School children across Malta and Gozo will have the opportunity to be introduced to such techniques during the seminar, Secrets of a super memory, which will be streaming on the Malta Book Festival online platforms on the morning of Friday, 13 November.

Loaded with humour and full of surprises, the renowned memory trainer will be revealing to an audience of children aged eight and older extraordinary practical skills and techniques to boost memory performance, and above all, witness amazing memory stunts. After the show, students are invited to follow an interview with the author and performer himself.

As an internationally widely published author, Katz will also be joining other guest speakers on the public conference, Beyond borders: Translation's power to take us elsewhere to discuss his experience with having his work disseminated in a variety of countries, and meeting readers from as many places. Beyond borders seeks to explore how translated works have come to increasingly provide a vital means of connecting readers and cultures across the globe. The event also features the participation of Merlin Publishers' director Chris Gruppetta; London-based writer and editor and co-founder of Praspar Press Katryna Storace; translator from the Maltese into Norwegian Kristina Quintano and Maltese-Palestinian prize-winning author Walid Nabhan. This discussion will be moderated by poet and University of Malta senior lecturer Norbert Bugeja and streamed on Thursday, 12 November at 8 pm.
