Former OPM chief of staff again questioned by police

Wednesday, 9 December 2020, 19:17 Last update: about 4 years ago

Former OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri was once again called in for questioning by police on Wednesday.

According to reports, he was once again questioned over an alleged €100,000 kickback from Nexia BT’s Brian Tonna. The allegation was the subject of a magisterial inquiry which was concluded recently.

Times of Malta said the questioning session was scheduled. Schembri is currently on police bail, which has been extended.

He was questioned under arrest in September, along with Nexia’s Tonna and Karl Cini.

Schembri and former tourism minister Konrad Mizzi were questioned again last month.

Schembri and Tonna have insisted that the €100,000 was repayment of an old loan.
