Rachel Grech, the staff nurse who became the first person to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in Malta, received the second jab on Sunday morning.

Grech, who works in Mater Dei Hospital’s Infectious Diseases Unit had received her first dose three weeks ago.

Up till now, around 2.57% of Malta’s population has been inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine. In comparison to other countries, who have barely reached two per cent, Malta is considered to be one of the countries with the highest reach.

Another shipment of 15,000 vaccines is expected to arrive on Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearner tweeted on Sunday that the second dose rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine has started this morning.
