208 new cases of Covid-19 reported, three more patients pass away

208 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Thursday, while three more patients have passed away while positive for the virus.

Authorities said that an 87-year-old man and a 69-year-old man passed away during the last 24 hours at Mater Dei Hospital, while an 87-year-old woman passed away at Gozo General Hospital.

This means that 261 people have now died while positive for the virus.

200 people meanwhile have recovered, meaning that the number of active cases in Malta has increased marginally to 2,687.

3,565 swab tests were done on Wednesday, taking the total number of swab tests over the 600,000 mark to 603,026 so far.

The vaccination effort meanwhile has continued, with 23,512 doses of the vaccine being administered up until Wednesday.

The number of people who have received both doses of the vaccine has increased to 2,095.

Malta has had 17,400 cases of the virus so far.  14,452 of those have recovered, while 261 have died.
