The Nationalist Party has filed a complaint with the Broadcasting Authority, claiming that an interview with Bernard Grech last week was “guided by the government and PL’s political narrative.”
Grech was interviewed on TVM’s Insights on Friday 15 January. He was interviewed by journalist Glen Falzon.
The PN Leader is complaining about the presenter’s “attitude” and line of questioning.
The complaint was filed by PN Secretary General Francis Zammit Dimech.
He said that the national broadcaster acted in a discriminatory and prejudicial way against the Opposition Leader when comparing Grech’s interview to another one carried out with Prime Minister Robert Abela.
“It is also clear, from the way the interviews were carried out, that the national station failed in its duty to present discussion topics in an objective way and for the presenter to provide precise information,” it said, adding that the presenter had used “partisan and factually incorrect” stories taken from the PL media, and had “taken them as fact” and asked about them.
The PN said it has no problem with being asked difficult questions but “it is clear that the interviewer used silk gloves for his interview with the PM and an iron fist with the Opposition Leader.”
This, the party said, let to a lack of impartiality and create an imbalance against the party.
