Labour MEP Alfred Sant is “unconvinced” that the “significant increase in the number of MPs” will be useful.

In his blog on The Malta Independent today, Sant refers to the bill meant to ensure that Malta will have a minimum number of women MPs in the House of Representatives.

He said that while giving the idea “full support”, he must point out that the “House of Representatives already is overpopulated”.

He added that this change might “complicate” efforts to convert the MP function into a full-time one.
