134 new cases of Covid-19 found as two more patients die

134 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Saturday along with two more deaths related to the virus.

The number of new cases bucks the trend of the past two days, where 79 and 57 cases respectively were found.

Authorities said in their daily update that a 69-year-old man and an 85-year-old man passed away at Mater Dei Hospital during the last 24 hours. It means that 279 people in Malta have died while positive for the virus.

195 people meanwhile have recovered, meaning that the number of active cases has continued to decrease to 2,401.

2,772 swab tests were carried out yesterday, taking the total number of cases up to 630,379 so far.

35,676 doses of the vaccine were administered as of Friday, with 7,594 people now having received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has had 18,576 cases of Covid-19 so far. 15,896 of those have recovered, while 279 have died.
