101 new cases of Covid-19 found as two more patients die

101 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities as two more patients passed away while positive for the virus.

During the last 24 hours, a 79-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman passed away at Mater Dei Hospital while positive for Covid-19.

It means that 377 people have now passed away while positive for the virus.

302 people meanwhile have recovered, meaning that the number of active cases of the virus has continued to plummet – now standing at 2,276.

2,789 swab tests were carried out on Tuesday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 792,598 so far.

Meanwhile, 155,678 doses of the vaccine were administered up until Tuesday, meaning that 4,781 doses were administered on Tuesday.

46,140 people have received both doses of the vaccine. 

Malta has had 28,510 cases of Covid-19 so far. 25,857 of them have recovered, while 377 have died.
