42 new Covid-19 cases found as active cases dip below 700

42 new Covid-19 cases were reported by authorities on Friday, as the number of active cases dipped below the 700 mark.

94 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, meaning that Malta currently has 687 active cases of Covid-19.

Another patient – an 82-year-old man – meanwhile passed away at Mater Dei Hospital while positive for Covid-19.  He is the 395th person to succumb to the virus in Malta.

2,361 swab tests were administered on Thursday – an increase on the numbers being reported as of late.  813,463 swab tests have been administered so far.

203,553 doses of the vaccine had been administered as of Thursday.  This means that a record 6,150 doses were administered in a single day.

55,897 people have received both doses of the vaccine so far.

This means that so far, 147,656 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Malta has had 29,127 cases of Covid-19 so far.  28,045 of those have recovered, while 395 have died.
