Covid-19: Visits to elderly people’s homes restricted to one household

Friday, 9 April 2021, 08:47 Last update: about 4 years ago

Visits to people residing in elderly people’s homes are being restricted to persons from one household unless an agreement is reached with the authorities, guidelines published today show.

The Social Care Standards Authority has said that two visitors from the same household per week would be allowed to visit elderly people staying in both government and private homes for the elderly.

If there is more than one household for an individual resident, an individualised visiting care plan is to be agreed respecting the two visitors per household rule, the guidelines add.

On Wednesday the government announced easing of some Covid-19 restrictions, including the re-opening of elderly people's homes to visits from relatives.
