An Albanian man has died after falling seven storeys at a construction site in Marsascala, police said on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at around 8am at a construction site in Triq il-Qrempuc in Marsascala.

The Albanian was 38 years old and lived in St. Paul's Bay, police said.

Police said that preliminary investigations showed that the man had fallen around seven storeys down a shaft while he was working.

Members from the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called to the site, but the man was unfortunately certified as dead on site.

Duty magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading a magisterial inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
