Customs pooches sniff out drugs packages arriving in Malta

Thursday, 15 April 2021, 15:41 Last update: about 4 years ago

Two customs officers – the dogs Ted and Zekkin – sniffed out a package of inbound drugs each, the customs department said in a statement.

The two pooches were sniffing inbound packages at MaltaPost when they reacted positively to two packages which, upon further examination, were both stuffed with narcotics.

Ted reacted positive to a package arriving from Switzerland, while – perhaps not to be outdone by his canine colleague – Zekkin reacted to another package which was arriving from Italy only minutes later.

Both packages were referred to the police’s anti-drug squad for further investigations.
