Four new Covid-19 cases reported, as vaccine drive to hit half a million doses tonight

Four new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Thursday, as Malta’s vaccine drive continues to progress.

Eight people were declared as recovered from the virus, while no new deaths were reported.

The number of active cases currently stands at 65.

2,316 swab tests were carried out on Wednesday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 918,465 so far.

Meanwhile, 498,726 doses of the vaccine had been administered up until Wednesday, with health authorities saying earlier today that Malta will sail past the 500,000 mark for the number of doses administered by tonight.

311,903 of the doses administered up till Wednesday were first doses of the vaccine.

195,856 people meanwhile are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 30,520 cases of the virus. 30,036 of those have recovered, while 419 have died.
