Hundreds of people turned up at the PN headquarters on Saturday as the Nationalist party seeks to address the “unjust way” in which water and electricity bills are being formulated.

The Nationalist Party on Thursday called on the public to register the utility bills with them by going to the party’s Pieta headquarters on Saturday. Opposition Leader Bernard Grech on Wednesday pledged a €50 million refund to consumers who, the PN said, have being paying more than they should on utility bills since 2013.

Grech said that the Nationalist Party in government is committed in paying back what is rightfully the property of the Maltese and Gozitan people.

He said that the party is also committed to being the voice of the people in the theft that the government is doing regarding the electricity and water bills.

“Today there is no doubt that for the past eight years, the government has been stealing from the Maltese and Gozitan people in electricity and water bills,” Grech said.

He recalled how for the past eight years the government has stolen €50 million which the Nationalist party in government will be giving back to the people.

“So far the Labour party has not denied that this theft is not taking place and so he did not even commit himself to addressing this anomaly, let alone return the money stolen from Maltese families,” Grech said.

He added that “the labour government had promised the public that work will be done to improve the energy sector but instead it stole from the people and kept millions for themselves instead.”
