The Armed Forces of Malta saved 81 migrants who were in distress on a boat in Malta’s search and rescue zone, the government said.

Three other migrants were found dead on the same boat, the statement added.

The rescued migrants included five women and three children.

The bodies of the dead migrants were brought to shore.
